John Littleton & Kate Vogel, Vitreographs

John Littleton & Kate Vogel

Vitreograph is a print whose matrix is common float glass instead of the traditional metal, wood or stone. The multicolored prints are achieved by running numerous plates through the press with paper, each holding a different color. The man behind the evolution of modern vitreography is Harvey Littleton, the well-known studio glass artist who founded the studio glass movement. The Littleton Studios have a large inventory of prints.

John Littleton and Kate Vogel met at the University of Wisconsin Madison where they received their BSA degrees.  Since 1979 they have lived in the mountains of North Carolina where they began their collaboration on blown and cast glass in the studio of John’s father, Harvey Littleton. In 1980 they moved to Bakersville, NC where they maintain their home and studio.
